A shooting incident at the University of Belize’s Old Teacher’s College Campus led the police to the KHMH at 1:25 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018. At the hospital, they observed Edwin Williams, a 26-year-old security guard of a Belize City address, suffering from a single apparent gunshot wound to the upper right leg.

According to the victim, he was on duty with two other persons at the campus earlier that morning when he was approached by a male person. That person pointed a firearm at him but Williams struggled and attempted to flee from his attacker. Unfortunately for him, he was shot at while running away and received the injury to his right leg.

He was admitted into the hospital and discharged the same day. Thus far, police have yet to establish a motive or suspect. Police investigation into this matter continues.
