On Sunday, February 25, 2018, police responded to a shooting incident at mile 7 ½ on the George Price Highway. Two men were heading to Belize City when a white car approached them from the opposite direction and opened fire on them both.

The men that were travelling on the motorcycle were Darnell Domingo, an 18-year-old student of Western Paradise, and Francis Parham, a 29-year-old. Parham received three gunshot wounds.

Two brothers have been accused of this attempted murder. They are Shakeedi Baizar, a 22-year-old resident of Western Paradise, and Akeem Humes, a 28-year-old resident of Belize City. In court where they appeared before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, they were read the indictable offenses of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm on Parham. Given the nature of the offenses, no plea was taken and they were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until April 20, 2018.
