The Cycling Federation of Belize with collaboration with the City of Belmopan held its 37th Annual Belmopan Cycling Classic on Sunday 3rd March, 2018.

In the Elite category, the riders started from the City of Belmopan travelled to Belize City and then back to Belmopan for the conclusion.

At the end of 3:48:26, it was Joslyn Chavarria Jr. of the Digicell 4G Elite Cycling team that rode away with the title. In the process Chavarria also established a new record. The second rider to cross the finish line was Giovanni Lovell of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team in a time of 3:48:32. The veteran, Fitzgerald ‘Palas’ Joseph of Furnished Apt. Ltd, finished third. He was the first Master rider to cross the finish line.

The next Elite rider to cross the line was Joel Borland of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team and he was followed by Erwin Gabourel also of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team. He was followed by Kent Gabourel who is unattached. Gabourel was the second Master rider to cross the line. David Henderson of Westrac Alliance finished seventh and was he was followed by Kaydine Pinello of AKL/Powerade, and he was followed by Kenroy Gladden who is unattached. Gladden was the third Master rider to cross the finish line. Brandon Morgan of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team round off the top 10 finishers in the event.

In the female category, the riders commenced their journey in Belmopan traveled to Gracie Rock and then back to the City of Belmopan for the conclusion.

The first female rider to cross the finish line was Alicia Thompson of the Belize Bank Swoosh in a time of 3:08:16. She was followed by Kaya Cattouse of C-Ray Cycling. The third rider to cross the finish line was Taralee Ordonez of Kulture Megabytes and she was followed by Kaylynn Gillet of the Belize Bank Swoosh, while Gabrielle Lovell who is unattached finished fifth.

The junior riders also started in Belmopan travelled to Gracie Rock and then back to Belmopan for the finish. First place went to Gian Lino of Westrac Alliance in a time of 2:31:08.  He was followed by Tevin Chaplin of Marie Sharp’s in a time of 2:31:14 and he was followed by Joseph Tillett of Chavarria in a time of 2:31:29.
