As the death of baby Alyssa Nunez’s sexual assault and death continues to incite rage and distaste in the mouths of just about everyone in the country, there is yet another case of sexual assault against a child to report. This time, a 7-year-old girl of Corozal was allegedly abused by her grandmother’s 67-year-old boyfriend, someone she calls granddad. The incident happened at least two-weeks prior to it being noticed and was only seen after the child’s behavior at school and home began to raise alarm.

According to the child’s mother, she noticed that her child had begun behaving differently. It wasn’t until the morning of Thursday, February 19, 2018 while she was taking her child to school that her child told her what happened. She said that although she was not penetrated, the man had touched her inappropriately on her private part as well as kissed her. The man was allegedly caught in the act by the child’s grandmother who has given a statement to the police. The child said that she was scared to tell her mother in fear of not being allowed to see her grandmother again.

The accused was officially charged on Monday, March 5, 2018. After allegedly evading the police for almost two weeks, he was taken into custody and read two counts of sexual assault against the minor.
