The death of 4-year-old Treshawn Goff came at a time when the country was still enraged by the acts of violence toward children. Baby Goff’s life was taken away on Monday, March 5, 2018 after being the subject of an unintended bullet. Goff was in a yard with Ian Abraham, who was also shot, and another man when they came under fire by an unknown gunman. Since Goff’s death, four persons have been detained but because of lack of evidence, all four persons were released. No motive has yet been established.

Less than a week prior on the night of Wednesday, February 28, 2018, a child, 1-year-old Gregory Mena, was the victim of gun violence. In this incident, Jermaine Carr, who was fatally shot, was socializing in a yard on Neal’s Penn Road when he came under fire. Mena was shot as a result and sustained a gunshot wound to the right foot which tore three of his toes from his foot. Since this, several persons have been detained and interviewed but had to be released.
