Denzil Fitzgerald Flowers, a 32-year-old Supervisor of Balan Street, Belize City, was taken to court on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 on a single charge of drug trafficking after police found him on a motorcycle with 136 grams of cannabis.

According to police, they were conducting a mobile patrol on Aloe Vera Street in Belize City on Monday, March 12, 2018 when they stopped Flowers on his motorcycle. A search was conducted on him but nothing incriminating was found. A search of his motorcycle led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing the cannabis.

Flowers appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Kadeen Palmer in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded guilty to possession and not to drug trafficking. He claims that he has a son who suffers from seizures and, as a result, he boils the cannabis on recommendation of a doctor.

He was given a non-custodial fine of $500 plus the $5 cost of court for which he has until May 30, 2018 to pay in default of 5 months’ imprisonment.
