Two-year Cooperation Agreement signed between Belize and Panama Print E-mail

On Friday, April 6, 2018, the Governments of Belize and the Republic of Panama signed a two-year Cooperation Agreement. That agreement is aimed at upholding and extending the mutually beneficial collaboration between the two countries.

The signing of the agreement is a major advancement in the bilateral agenda between the two countries as it establishes the necessary legal framework for cooperation. Areas for cooperation set out in the agreement include health, trade, tourism, education, and culture.

Diplomatic relations between Belize and Panama were established in 1981 and since then, both countries have shared excellent ties to upholding those relations. Over the course of those years, the relations have remained cordial and the governments of both places have continuously sought the assurance of greater prosperity and development of their people.

Hon. Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed on behalf of the Government of Belize and on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Panama, Her Excellency Marta Irene Boza, Ambassador of Panama to Belize, signed. The official signing ceremony took place at the Laing Building in Belize City.
