At 1:25 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018, police received reports of domestic violence taking place in San Andres Village, Corozal District. Acting upon that information, they visited the Dominguez residence where they were informed that there was no such report.

Whilst there Alejandro Dominguez, a 25-year-old man who was apparently under the influence of alcohol, attacked the police with a machete. As a result, the police fired a warning shot in the air but Dominguez continued advancing towards them. The police then fired a shot at Dominguez which caught him to the right knee.  He was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition.  Police investigations continue.
