Four charged for drug bust at Northern Border Print E-mail

At about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, Corozal police intercepted 2 vehicles at the Northern border. The passengers in the vehicles were travelling from Chetumal to Belize when they were intercepted.

Searches were conducted in both vehicles that led to the discovery of multiple parcels of cannabis. In the spare tire of the first vehicle, a Ford Escape, police found 24 parcels of suspected cannabis which amounted to 20.4 kilos. Police also found 28 rounds of 380 Aguila brand of ammunition. This vehicle was being driven by Blancaneaux Maudel who was accompanied by Michelle Benguche.

The second vehicle was a Kia and inside the spare wheel, 6.1 kilos of suspected cannabis was found. This second vehicle was being driven by Kenyon Lewis who was accompanied by Phylmore King.

The four persons were detained and on Friday, April 6, they were formally arrested and charged for the importation of drugs, drug trafficking, and the possession of unlicensed ammunition.
