Unitedville Rebels United to defend Cayo Softball title Print E-mail

The 2018 Cayo Softball Association Senior Women’s Competition commenced on Sunday 8th April, at the Raymond Garbutt Softball Field in Roaring Creek Village with three games on the schedule.

In the third and final game of the day, the defending champions Unitedville Rebels United opened its defence of its title when it edged out the perennial champions Roaring Creek Grace Kennedy by the score of 9-8.

Unitedville Rebels United scored a single run in the 1st inning then added 6 more runs in the 3rd inning and then single run in the 4th and 5th innings for the win. Roaring Creek Grace Kennedy scored a single run in the 1st inning then scored 7 more runs in the 5th inning which was keyed by Shadalee Ho’s 3 run homer.

The winning pitcher was Francine Salazar and the losing pitcher was Leandra Guy.

In the first game of the day played, Roaring Creek Grace Kennedy blasted the Esperanza Wolverines by the score of 13-1 in five innings.

Roaring Creek Grace Kennedy scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, then added 2 more runs in the 2nd inning, 2 in the 3rd inning, 2 more in the 4th inning and then exploded for 4 more in the 5th inning before it was called using the Run-ahead Rule.

The winning pitcher was Leandra Guy and the losing pitcher was Kimberly Ortega.

In game two, Belmopan Bandits won over the Belmopan Emeralds by the score of 21-13.

The Belmopan Bandits scored 8 runs in the 1st inning, then a single run in the 2nd inning, 4 in the 3rd inning,1 in the 4th inning, then 5 in the 5th inning and then 2 more in the 6th inning. Meanwhile, the Belmopan Emeralds scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, 1 in the 3rd inning, 7 runs in the 4th inning and 3 runs in the 5th inning. The game was called using the Run-Ahead Rule in the bottom of the 6th inning.

The competition will continue this coming Sunday with three more games on the schedule.
