An educational presentation on Disaster Management was made to upper division students at the Pancotto Primary School in Sand Hill, Belize District on Friday, April 13, 2018. The presentation focused on the role and responsibilities of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and also highlighted what members of the public can do to assist as well as to preserve their own life and property.

The presentation was led by NEMO Belize District (Rural) Coordinator Alphius Gillett. The exercise was organized through the efforts of Anna Reyes, principal of Pancotto Primary School, and Tanya Sutherland, teacher.

At the end of the presentation, students were quizzed on what they had learnt, and prizes were awarded to those who answered correctly.

On Friday, April 20, a presentation will be made to the students of Biscayne Government Primary School. This presentation will focus on Basic First Aid Training and Tsunami Preparedness. These activities are part of NEMO’s Public Education Program on Emergency and Disaster Management.
