While on a working tour in the Toledo district on April 12 to 13, Hon. Edmond Castro, Minister of Transport and NEMO, visited a government project which is underway. This project, to upgrade the Bypass Road from Santa Cruz to San Jose, will have a significant impact on travelling time to and from those villages. Currently the work entails upgrading the road and more importantly the installation of a small bridge to allow for residents to traverse the area during the rainy season. Residents say that an hour and fifteen minute journey will be cut down to a 15 minute ride when the bypass is completed.

The project will also have a considerable effect in respect to flood mitigation and disaster and emergency response. Hon. Castro was accompanied by Hon. Macario Coy and NEMO District Coordinator, Kenton Parham. At the site they were joined by San Jose Village Leader Albert Peck.
