The Premier League of Belize Closing Season Playoffs round commenced last Saturday 21st April, out at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan between the Police United FC and the Belmopan Bandits SC.

The visiting Belmopan Bandits SC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Jerome James scored the 1st goal of the game in the 26th minute of play to give his team an early 1-0 lead.

The Belmopan Bandits took that lead into the half and into the opening minutes of the second half of the game before the Police United FC was able to make it onto the scoreboard. In the 49th minute of play, Marlon Meza scored the equalising goal for the Police United to tie the score at 1-1.

The host team Police United then made it a 2-1 game when Harrison Roches scored the go-ahead goal for his team in the 79th minute of play. However, the Belmopan Bandits SC would not go quietly into that good night when Tyrone Pandy scored the equalising goal in the 92nd minute of play to tie the score at 2-2.

At the end of the long whistle, the game indeed ended in a 2-2 draw for the Police United FC and the Belmopan Bandits SC.

On Sunday 22nd April at the MCC Grounds, the host team Belize Defence Force FC blanked the defending champions Verdes FC by the score of 2-0.

The goals for the Belize Defence Force FC were scored by Trimayne Harris in the 43rd minute of play and in the 83rd minute of play for the win.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with the second and final games in the home and away series. On Saturday 28th April, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, it will be the Belmopan Bandits SC that will entertain the Police United FC.
