In Celebration of Earth Day last week, students and teachers from the National 4-H Youth Development Center in Belmopan were given a tour of the United States Embassy. Leading the charge for the tour was Chargé d’Affaires Adrienne Galanek, who also took time to make presentations to students.

A statement from the public affairs section at the United States Embassy states:  “we welcomed students from Belmopan’s National 4-H Youth Development Center. American diplomats and our Belizean colleagues took the students on a STEAM tour of the Embassy, explaining the science and technology behind our IT, air conditioning, and water treatment systems, xeriscaping, our solar panels, and various art pieces around the Embassy.”

The United States Embassy has good reasons to teach 4H Students about their landscape. Over the last few years the National 4-H Youth Development Center with funding from the Government of Belize has become a model institution committed to equipping our Belizean youth with marketable skills to support and sustain their efforts in becoming productive citizens. The Center at the National Show Grounds in Belmopan meets all costs for tuition, meals and uniform for its students and has become a hallmark of agricultural excellence in the Region.
