Police continue to look for one man who they want to question about the shooting murder of 42 year-old Gabriel Tex Laurie Jr., a resident of Dangriga Town.

At around 10 a.m. on Friday, April 27, residents of the Wagierale area of Dangriga heard about 5 gunshots ring out. Wary residents remained inside their homes until they believed that the danger had passed. When they went searching for victims, they found Laurie at his front door suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. He died right inside his house.

Apart from that, nothing else is really known about Laurie’s killing, and the case has investigators struggling to make sense of what happened.

Reports in the town suggest that Laurie recently had a disagreement with another man over drugs. Residents of Dangriga told the press that Laurie was a small peddler of marijuana in his neighborhood. They added that he allegedly got into a dispute with a man where hard talk happened and threats were issued.

Days later, Laurie was found dead, and that man had left the town. At this time, he’s the main suspect in Laurie’s murder, and the cops have not been able to locate him as yet. 3 others were detained for questioning, and the cops say that they had to be released because there was no evidence to tie them to the killing.

Laurie’s son, Kevon Laurie is currently in Cleveland, Ohio, and he’s participating in the Dru Joyce Basketball Tournament. He left days before his dad’s murder in an attempt to hopefully be scouted for a college basketball scholarship. His coaches reportedly had to encourage him to play team Belize’s opening game hours after finding out about his father’s demise.
