Police officers visited the KHMH on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 3:23 a.m. There, they saw Joselyn Duarte, a 20-year-old Honduran national and resident of Freetown Road, suffering from stab wounds to her left upper shoulder and left upper wrist. She is listed in a stable condition. They also saw Manuel Jesus Acosta, 21, with stab wounds to the body. He is listed in a critical but stable condition.

Initial investigations revealed that around 1:00 a.m., the boyfriend of Duarte was at home when Duarte arrived in the company of Acosta, her boyfriend’s roommate and friend. The two were allegedly found in a compromising situation and that is when Duarte’s boyfriend got into an altercation with them. This led to him stabbing them after which he attempted to flee on board a Westline bus en route to Belmopan. Quick police response led to the detention of Jefferson Jacobo, who was seen with an injury to his finger.

He was transported to the KHMH for treatment and remains under police guard. On Sunday, April 29, 2019, police formally arrested and charged Jacobo for 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of use of deadly means of harm, 1 count of dangerous harm, and 1 count of wounding.
