Belmopan police are investigating an incident in which one of their own was chopped multiple times with a machete.

Reports to police indicated that on Monday April 30, police constable, Brian Shal, 27 and  resident of the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan reported that on the day prior, Sunday 29th April, at about 8:20pm he got into an altercation with a group of four young men in the Maya Mopan area. During the altercation he was chopped  to the head and left leg with a machete. He managed to escape and got assistance and was taken to the Western Regional Hospital. His injuries were classified as Grievous Harm.

Shal told police that he recognized one of his attackers. Police are looking for the suspects.
