While operating a checkpoint at the Burrell Boom Junction on Friday, April 27, 2018, police officers attached to Ladyville noticed a vehicle stopping at a distance and making an about turn. This led to the officers pursuing the vehicle which ended at around mile 17. The vehicle somehow overturned and the three persons in the vehicle were badly injured. They have been identified as Jermaine Michael Sanker, David Donavon Morrison, and Diana Elizabeth Sutherland. Given their situation, the Fire Department had to be called to remove the persons from the vehicle.

A fourth person was also seen under the vehicle, already dead at that time. He has been identified as 38-year-old Anthony Somerville.

Police found parcels of suspected drugs in the area which amounted to over 21 kilograms of marijuana. It is believed that those drugs were being trafficked from a district in the north.

The three injured persons remain under police guard at the KHMH. After receiving treatment, they will be levied charges with regards to drug trafficking. The death of Somerville is a traffic matter still under investigation. If that investigation concludes that the driver was at fault, he will also be levied charges in relation to the death of Somerville.
