After being busted with a .380 pistol loaded with 7 live rounds in its chamber, Nisani Daniel Garcia was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. He appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser where he was read charges of keeping a firearm and keeping ammunition without being granted a gun license.

The allegations are that on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at about 8:30 p.m., police received information of shots being fired in the Back-a-Town area. Several police officers proceeded to the area on Saint Jude Street. There, they entered a yard and saw a male person stooping down at the back of the house. One of the officers ordered the young man, later identified as Garcia, to lie down and a search was conducted on him.

Nothing incriminating was found on him but according to police, a .380 Ruger pistol was found about 10 feet away from him under a cement block. As a result, Garcia was detained and escorted to the police station where he was later charged.

In court, Garcia pleaded not guilty but due to the nature of the offenses, he was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until July 12, 2018.
