Daniel Guardado, who was a Belize City mechanic, was ambushed and killed on Saturday, May 5, 2018 on Partridge Street. Police now say that the alleged gunman has been captured. He has been identified as 21-year-old Benjamin Alexander Reid, a carver of Banak Street, Belize City.

Reid appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 where he was read a single charge of murder. No plea was taken from him; due to the nature of the offense, he was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until August 16, 2018.

Guardado was on his way to socialize with friends when he was ambushed by a lone man who opened fired in his direction. Friends recall that he left to buy, pushing a motorcycle, and said that he would return but never made it back.
