Two Belize City men, who were students at the time of their arrest for murder, remain on remand at the Belize Central Prison awaiting a ruling as to whether or not they will be eligible for bail. They are 28-year-old Jedd Burgess and 23-year-old Micah Tillett. The duo was charged in September 2013 for the crime of murder for the shooting death of Jamaal Neal, who was gunned down on Banak Street.

Their case for bail application came up on Monday, May 14, 2018 before Justice Marilyn Williams in the Supreme Court. After hearing from their attorneys, Justice Marilyn Williams has reserved their ruling for May 23, 2018.

At the bail hearing, both attorneys submitted that the men should be granted bail due to the fact that they have been on remand for an unreasonably long time, 4 years and 8 months, before getting a trial date. They also submitted that the evidence against the men is weak since the prosecution witness gave conflicting details.
