On May 20, 2018, 30 children between the ages of 8 and 15 were taken to the Frank’s Eddy Village in the Cayo District to do zip lining. Responsible for this outing was the staff of the Eastern Division Region One and their commander, Sr. Spt. Howell Gillett.

According to the Gillett, “one of our objectives is to keep young people positive by taking them out of their usual environment to experience other possibilities. This we hope will help these young people by opening their minds to a life other than the status quo.”

Sr. Spt. Gillett and his staff continue to nurture youths in this aspect but also do their part in positively benefiting the academic portion of their lives. Their latest achievement was a partnership with Scotiabank. The two are partnering to offer a one year scholarship to 15 deserving primary school students at any level.

The applicants must come from a low-income family and must be maintaining a cumulative average of 75% or higher. The forms are available at the Raccoon Street Police Station and must be submitted by 10:00 am on June 1, 2018.
