Erbin Enrique Garrido, a 30 year-old resident of the Set Site area off Holy Emmanuel Street in Belize City, was shot and killed inside his home on Tuesday night. Family members of the father of 4 suspect that the gunman was someone he knew, and that he may have allowed that assailant inside his house.

Police have since arrested and charged 37 year old Anthony Bennett an electrician of Mahogany Street for Garrido’s murder.

Police say that around 8:30 p.m. on May 29th, they received information of shots fired on Holy Emmanuel Street. Officers responded, and they later found out that it was actually in the Set Site area. They gained entry into a green board house which was elevated off the ground on stilts. The officers later realized that it was Garrido’s house, and they found him lying face up and motionless on the bathroom floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Initial police investigation is that Garrido was inside his house when a lone gunman approached and shot him in the chest. His family told the press that they believe that the culprit was most likely someone he was acquainted with. They believe that he allowed the shooter to enter his house, and sometime after that, the gunman pulled out his weapon and gunned him down. They believe that Garrido tried to flee for cover in the bathroom, and that’s where he most likely took his last breath.

Police added to this saying that indeed Garrido knew Bennett who was charged with his murder. They report that a few days ago Garrido had stabbed Bennett but there was no report made. His killing is subsequent to that original altercation.

Garrido’s family describes him as a fun-loving person who loved to party. He was a construction worker, and according to his sister, he focused hard and dedicated himself on any job which came his way.

His sister said that he was making some very strange posts on Facebook, but she did not pay them much mind.
