A robbery in the Boca del Rio area on San Pedro on Friday, May 25, 2018 has left a 26-year-old bartender lucky to have escaped with his life. Osner Campos, a bartender at Wayo’s Bar, was found at the San Pedro Polyclinic by police officers with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

According to Campos, he and another bartender were working at the bar when two men entered the establishment. One of the men was armed with what appeared to be a nine millimeter gun while the other held a sawed off shotgun. They robbed the contents of the cash register as well as assorted items from the customers present at the time. Before leaving, one of the men fired a single round which ricocheted off the wall and struck Campos to the back of the head.

He was transported to the San Pedro Polyclinic then brought to Belize City for treatment. He was released the following day since his injury was not life-threatening. In relation to this incident, the police are looking for two male persons. According to ASP Alejandro Cowo, the police have not yet established a description of the two persons. He noted that the bar was a target because of its location away from the commercial center of San Pedro.
