Rupert Thomas, a 35-year-old police officer and resident of Seine Bight, has been released from a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse; a charge dating back to 2013 when he was accused of raping a 15-year-old minor in Dangriga.

On May 23, 2018, the victim, now 20-years-old, took the stand in the Dangriga Supreme Court before Justice Denis S. Hanomansingh. She stated that she does not want to testify against the accused and with that, the case against Thomas was discontinued. The DPP entered a nolle prosequi against him. Justice Hanomansingh informed the accused that he was free to go.

In court, Thomas was represented by Senior Counsel, Attorney Simeon Sampson.
