Sean Lord, a first class clerk with the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, was found not guilty of theft in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court. Lord was first accused of theft in November 2017 after allegedly stealing ,010 from the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court, property of the Government of Belize. The monies were attained after Lord collected from two immigrants, who pleaded guilty to illegal entry.

The trial against Lord failed after the prosecution was unable to prove the charge against Lord. That prompted Senior Magistrate Merlene Moody to find Lord not guilty after upholding a no case submission put forward by his attorney, Richard “Dickie” Bradley.

Lord is expected to be reinstated as a clerk at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court and will be paid the other half of his pay since being placed on interdiction. He was only receiving half of his salary.
