An exhibit entitled, The El Pilar and the Forest Garden Exhibit, has recently come to an end after a national tour, which was hosted by the Belize National Library Service and Information System BNLSIS.  The series of exhibits deriving from the Corozal to the Toledo District was held under the theme: Sub Umbra Floreo Our Plants, Our Lives, Our Future, Our World Wealth Untold.

During the last exhibit at the Benque Viejo del Carmen Public Library, members of the Exploring Solutions Past team showcased local plants and useful seeds that can serve us well. Master Forest Gardener Narcisso Torres, with the support of Exploring Solutions Past, was on hand to explain to students from surrounding schools some of the usefulness of those plants.

Belize’s Female Farmer of the Year 2018-2019 Ana Eloisa Moralez from Selena, with the help of her cooperative members, was also present to feature the many uses of the Ramon Seed. This seed is rich with iron, zinc, vitamin A,B, C and E, Folic Acid, Potassium, Calcium and Fiber. It can be converted to tamales, tortillas, bread, biscuits, salads and different kinds of refreshing drinks.

The welcome address to the ending tour was given by Librarian Mrs. Precilla Rivas Thomas and the vote of thanks by Mrs. Marian Garcia, head librarian of the Benque Library, which now features a new fence. Acting Chief Librarian Mrs. Lusiola Castillo was also present to give significance to the national El Pilar and the Forest Garden Exhibit.
