A resident of San Pedro accused of committing burglary on the island is on remand at the Belize Central Prison. He is Raymond Lamb, a 32-year-old fisher of San Pedro Town and because there were no magistrates on the island, he had to be arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. He was arraigned on Monday, July 8, 2019 before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson where he was read a charge of burglary. Lamb, who appeared unrepresented in court, was accused of stealing over $42,000 in money and items from the home of Mistry Harris. The prosecutor in the case objected to bail being offered to Lamb on several grounds. He submitted that the court consider the prevalence of the crime of burglary; the strength of the police’s case against Lamb who was caught red-handed; and that Lamb has a similar previous conviction on the island. The magistrate agreed and bail was denied. Lamb was remanded until September 3, 2019 when he is to appear in the San Pedro Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on Saturday, July 6, 2019, Lamb entered as a trespasser the home of Misty Harris located at Victoria House. He allegedly stole a number of items including an iPhone, household items, jewelry, a MasterCard, cash, and a wallet to a total of $42,490.
