Signing agreement.On Wednesday July 6th the management of BTL and the Belize Communication Workers Union signed an agreement which sees among other things a significant salary increase for the workers of Belize Telemedia Limited.

The agreement which was signed late on Wednesday evening will see an increase in salary, current benefits and pension. These benefit increases will form part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement  between BTL’s management and the BCWU.

Under the salaries employees will see a 4 percent increase retroactive to October 1, 2010 up to September 30th, 2011. Thereafter employees will receive an increase of 3.5 percent from October 1 to September 30th 2013. Pensions contributed will be increased by 1 percent for both management and staff. For the period of October 1, 2010 up to the signing of the agreement management’s contribution of 1 percent will be paid in a lump sum. Thereafter the increase of 1% will be made to the pension fund.

Other benefits include internet service as well as cell service and discounts on telephone usage.
