Belize Diaspora Homecoming 2011- Launching 11th September 2011. Print E-mail

In observance of Belize’s 30th Anniversary of Independence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade will launch Homecoming 2011 with a Special Diaspora- Homeland Forum on 11th September 2011.


This will be accompanied by  a program of recreational, historical reclamation and cultural heritage, development activities, site visits, tours and participation in official September Celebration program  during 12 Days of Reflection 10th -21st September 2011. The Belize Diaspora program established in 2009 encourages and facilitates partnerships between Belizeans Abroad and At Home in Belize to strengthen the Belizean nation, access critical skills, investments, technologies, resources and innovations  to develop Belize and Belizean communities at home and abroad.

Homecoming 2011 builds on earlier Diaspora-Homeland efforts and encourages col-laboration with key public, private sector, and civil society/social movement organizations to advance planning and streamline implementation arrangements for the Belize Diaspora Program/Homecoming 2011 - 2015.

The  Special Diaspora –Homeland Forum on 11th September will bring together Diaspora community leaders,  UB Alumnae, Diplomatic, Consular Corp in collaboration with  National organizations including  University of Belize, UWI ,Belize Tourism Board ,  Beltraide, NICH and other Belizean partners and young Belizeans to review progress, coordinate and streamline efforts and reaffirm commitments between Diaspora and Homeland in key sectors of national development.

Participants will take part in other homecoming activities throughout 12 Days of  Reflection 10th - 21th September including historical and  cultural  reclamation , recreational tours,   development and investment  activities /site visits  and official September celebration activities.
