15 bail applications heard before Justice Hebert Lord Print E-mail

A total of 15 bail applications were heard before the Honorable Justice Herbert Lord in the Supreme Court on Friday July 22nd.


Of the 15 several were for accused persons charge in with crimes such as robberies and firearms and ammunition offenses.

At the end of the session well known figure, Ricky Valencia was offered bail in the sum of $15,000 plus one surety of the same.  Bail was also granted to Jermaine Belgrave in the sum of $10,000 and Alrick Smith, a resident of Matron Robert’s Street in Belize City.

A mother and her two sons who were all charged with firearm and ammunition offenses after they were found with a gun loaded with ammunition in Cayo earlier this year were also granted bail.

Ricky Valencia is no stranger to police, he was accused of trying to kill the Prime Ministers’ law partner, Rodwell Williams in June 2010 on Albert Street as he was leaving work heading to his vehicle.

Jermaine Belgrave was recently remanded to prison for a series of robberies allegedly occurring in Orange Walk Town while Alrick Smith in April of this year was accused of cattle theft in Bermudian Landing. He was also accused of shooting at a police officer in the line of duty and he was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
