The Belmopan City Council has signed a contract with the Ministry of Works for the upgrading of Atlantic, Jamaica and Pacific Street to pave standard. Extensive works will be done on each street. A stretch of 942 feet on Atlantic Street and 365 feet on Pacific Street will see the removal of unsustainable materials and cleaning of drains. The street rehabilitation will see the provision of sub-base course and base course materials before a first coat of ¾ inch chip seal is spread across the stretch. That coat will be followed by second with ½ inch chip seal. Besides the removal of unsustainable materials, cleaning of drains, provision of sub-base and base course materials and chip seal layers, the 1,236 feet stretch across Jamaica Street will also see the construction of headwalls.

The upgrading works will be done by Belize Roadway Construction, a firm that has both the capacity and suitable experience to complete the works within time and in compliance with acceptable standards. The paving works are to be completed within a period of 3 months, weather permitting. The rehabilitation of Pacific Street will cost $26,451. The rehabilitation of Atlantic Street will cost $65,925.75 and the rehabilitation of Jamaica Street will cost $92,384.50 for a total of $184,761.25.
