In an effort to promote greater cultural awareness, the Honduran Embassy with the support of the Atlantic Bank will showcase works by well-known Honduran painter Carmen Margarita Neda. Honduran ambassador to Belize Sandra Rosales Abella told the Guardian that Neda will be visiting Belize from the 30th of August to the 10th of September.

Neda will bring with her a collection of 18 paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor as part of the celebration of Honduras’s independence which is observed on the 15th of September as well as in observance of Belize’s 30th anniversary of our independence. Rosales says that hopefully with Neda’s visit, Belizeans will be better able to appreciate Honduran art. Among the paintings which will be exhibited at the Bliss Center will be a few which were actually inspired by Belizean scenes.  In addition to Neda’s visit a folkloric Ballet group will also be visiting Belize on the 11th of September for the Mesoamerican Festival in Belmopan which will feature presentations from Central American Countries and Mexico.  The Ballet consists of 10 couples, 8 musicians and a choreographer. They will make their presentations at the Mesoamerican Festival.

Rosales says that the embassy of Honduras is pleased to bring both the Neda and the ballet to showcase Honduran arts. She explained that she is hopeful that Belizeans will appreciate the visits by the Honduran artists.
