The families of three people are preparing to bury their loved-ones after a fatal traffic accident claimed their lives while they were driving between mile 4 and 5 on the Placencia road. The three persons who have died as a result of the accident are Belize City Councilor, Andrew Faber, 29, Gianni Taylor, 24, and Virginia Azueta, 26.

According to police, at about 12:30 p.m. Faber was driving his maroon and grey Mitsubishi pickup truck on the Placencia / Siene Bight Road heading towards the Southern Highway. The two women were his passengers.

When he arrived between mile 4 and 5, he lost control of the vehicle and it ended up overturning. The vehicle came to a halt in a ditch with about 4 feet of water. All three passengers suffered severe head and body injuries.

Responders to the scene told the media that by the indications, there were skid marks which signaled poor road conditions due to the recent thunderstorms that the country has been experiencing. They believe that if they survived the initial crash, it is likely that they drowned in the water from the ditch.

Councilor Faber was elected to office in 2009 and had responsibility for youth, Sports and After-School Programmes.  He was also the brother of Hon. Patrick Faber, Minister of Education and Youth.
