Irene Budd right and Ormencia PouTwo women appeared in Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday September 27th accused of trying to kill their neighbor.

Irene Budd, a Domestic of Sand hill along with her daughter, Ormencia Pou appeared in court #5 before Magistrate Albert Hoare where they were jointly charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm upon their neighbor, Gilbert Blair, 32, a resident of Mile 19 on the Northern Highway. No plea was taken as the matters are indictable and they were remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until November 11th.

The charges against the women arose out of an incident which occurred on Sunday, September 4th. Reportedly there has been an ongoing feud between the Pou’s of Sandhill and Gilbert Blair for years now. In early May one of them was charged with two counts of attempted arson and damage to property after an argument.

The feud between the neighbors got worse in early September and during a fight, relatives of both sides got involved and were injured. A member of both families had to be hospitalized and one was charged with aggravated assault after his release.

The old feud stems from an alternation between Irene Budd’s son, Charles Pou and Gilbert Blair that has grown over the years between the neighbors. In May of this year Blair allegedly tried to burn down Pou’s home located at Mile 19 on the Northern Highway. For that matter, Blair was charged with two counts of attempted arson and one count of damage to property for allegedly causing damage to 20 windows value $200 belonging to another neighbor, Carlton Wagner.

Blair in this matter was arraigned in the Belize city Magistrate’s Court on May 31st, where he was unrepresented, no plea taken and he was offered bail of $2,000 and his matter was adjourned.
Even with the pending case on September 4th, the two neighbors got into another altercation where the women alleged that Blair attacked Aaron Fuentes, 21, a Customer Care representative of Sand hill. During the attack, both Fuentes and Blair were injured as they were involved in a fist fight that later escalated with objects and a machete being introduced into the fight. Both were hospitalized and the following day, Fuentes, after being treated at the KHMH was released and handed over to the Sand Hill Police where he was charged with aggravated assault upon Blair with a machete.

On Tuesday, September 6th, Fuentes appeared in Court #6 before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers and was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a machete upon Blair.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of $2,000 and his case was adjourned for October 18th.

The mother and daughter were allegedly also involved in the September 4th altercation during which Blair was hospitalized as he sustained injuries to one of his eyes and may have to undergo surgery to save his eye.
