OCTOBER 12, 2011

The Ministry of Sports has learnt, via a Press Release from the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), that new FIFA Conformed Statutes as well as an Electoral Code have been approved for the FFB.   An Electoral Commission and an Electoral Appeals Committee have also been appointed. All this is in conformity with the Proposed FIFA Roadmap to solve the current crisis in Belizean Football.

In view of these developments the Ministry advises all football clubs, in every district, whose names appear on the official list of clubs submitted by the FFB to the National Sports Council, to prepare for elections in the seven football districts. All club members are encouraged to get together as a club and select the delegate who will represent your club at the election to be held in your district under the auspices of the Electoral Commission.

With the Electoral Code and the Electoral Commission now in place this is the only authorized procedure and body to conduct elections for the office of the FFB Members and the FFB Executive. The National Sports Council, The Ministry of Sports as well as FIFA, CONCACAF and UNCAF will closely monitor this process.

The Ministry also takes this opportunity to remind teams interested in being part of Top League Football in Belize to adhere to the October 14th deadline at midday for registration to the FFB.  This Top League will be the only League recognized by the FFB, the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Sports, FIFA/CONCACAF and UNCAF.
