H.E. Oliver del Cid, presented his Letters of Credence to President Felipe Calderon in a ceremony at the National Palace in Mexico City, thereby formally accrediting him as Belize’s Ambassador to Mexico.

The excellent relations that exist between Belize and Mexico were highlighted by Ambassador del Cid and President Calderon during their meeting and matters of mutual interest, such as bilateral cooperation projects, were also discussed. President Calderon conveyed his warm regards for the people of Belize and particularly expressed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of Mrs. Kim Simplis-Barrow.

Ambassador Oliver del Cid was born in Belize City, grew up in Orange Walk Town and joined the Foreign Service in 1996. He has a BA in Political Science from Southwest Texas State University, an MA in International Policy and Diplomacy from Staffordshire University and as a Chevening Scholar attended Oxford University’s Foreign Service Programme. He previously served as a Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Belize in Guatemala and as Deputy Coordinator in the National Security Council Secretariat.
