Harrison Tasher scored 2nd goal for the Belize Defence ForceThe Premier League of Belize Football Competition continued over the last week of play with six (6) games across the country.

On Saturday March 17, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, FC Belize blanked World FC by the score of 2-0. The goal scorers for FC Belize were Jeromy James in the 57th minute of play, and David Ramos in the 80th minute of play.

In the second game played on that day, out at the Marshalleck Stadium. In Benque Viejo Del Carmen, the host team won its first game of the 2012 campaign when it edged the Belmopan Bandits by the score of 2-1. The visiting Belmopan Bandits got on the scoreboard first when Floyd Jones scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 20th minute of play to give his team a temporary lead.

The Belmopan Bandits took that lead well into the second half of the game before the offence of its opponents came alive. The home team, Hankook Verdes, finally got on the scoreboard when Julian Maldonado scored the equalizing goal in the 80th minute of play. A couple minutes later. Jaime Lozano scored his team’s 2nd goal of the game that gave the Hankook Verdes its first win of the football campaign.

The competition then continued on Sunday March 18 with four more games across the country. At the MCC Grounds, the Belize Defence Force blanked the San Pedro Seadogs by the score of 3-0. The goals for the Belize Defence Force were scored by Richard Jimenez in the 43rd minute of play, and Harrison Tasher in the 64th and 77th minutes.

Out at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town, FC San Felipe Barcelona also blanked Juventus by the score of 1-0. Eliazar Itza scored the only goal of the game in the 5th minute of play via a penalty kick.

Meanwhile, at the Placencia Football Field, the league’s leaders, Police United, continued on its winning path when it clipped the home team Placencia Assassins by the score of 2-1. The Assassins were the first to get on the scoreboard when Ashley Torres scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 37th minute of play to give his team a short-lived lead.

For Police United, the goals were scored by Lennox Castillo in the 42nd minute of play, and Evan Mariano in the 51st minute.

While at the Toledo Union Field in Punta Gorda Town, San Ignacio United and the Paradise/Freedom Fighters played to a 1-1 draw. The goal for Paradise/Freedom Fighters was scored by Ralph Flores in the 9th minute of play and for San Ignacio United FC it was scored by Ismael Thompson in the 22nd minute of play.
