After a weekend that saw ten people shot in Belize City, the violence continued at the start of the new week with the murder of Keith Lewis on Rochez Street on Monday, June 11. Tuesday had its share of violent activities as well.

According to police reports, a 19-year-old man reported that he was standing with some friends on Ordonez Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening when three males rode past on bicycles and one opened fire with a .38 revolver. Five shots were fired in their direction but no one was injured. Three hours after that incident, at 10:25 p.m., 21-year-old Carrie Wade was socializing with some friends in front of a house on Vernon Street when a gunman came from the direction of Mosul Street and fired several shots in their direction. Wade was struck by bullets in her right upper thigh and right leg. Police have detained one person in relation to that shooting incident. A little more than an hour and a half after Wade was shot, another female became a gunshot victim on Vernon Street. 18-year-old Kenesha Humes was socializing in front of her residence, also on Vernon Street, when three males rode past and fired several shots in their direction. Humes was hit in her right knee. She received treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and has since been discharged.
Police investigations into these shooting incidents continue.
