Keith LewisThe lifeless body of 24-year-old Keith Lewis was found by police in a swampy lot on Roches Street shortly before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12. Police observed gunshot wounds to the upper left side of the chest, the upper left side of the back, upper left leg and upper right leg. Shortly after the discovery of the body, reports circulated that another early morning murder had occurred. However, Lewis was not killed on Tuesday morning. Reports revealed that he was killed a full twelve hours earlier.

Residents reported hearing numerous gunshots in the area around 6 p.m. Monday. Police investigations revealed that Lewis was standing in a yard on Roches Street with three other men when a man came from the direction of McKay Boulevard and opened fire on them. Residents said the amount of shots sounded like that of an automatic weapon. Lewis and the other three men ran in separate directions. It was not until the next morning that people in the area knew Lewis had been fatally injured.

Police investigation into this shooting incident continues and they are looking for a suspect known to them. Word on the streets is that the motive may have been revenge-driven. Lewis was charged with attempted murder for the July 17, 2011 shooting of Frank Sinclair, Jr., who was shot when walking on McKay Boulevard between Jones and Diego Streets.
