“The San Joaquin Fiesta is receiving more attention as the years go by; in fact, it has become the biggest event the village hosts.  The Fiesta is in celebration of the village’s patron saint: San Joaquin,” said Marceli Tzul, Chairperson of the San Joaquin Village Council. “Every year, we first pay tribute to our Saint and then the party begins.  The general public is invited to join the celebration.”

The San Joaquin Fiesta commences on Thursday, August 16th with a Novena and a mass at the San Joaquin Catholic Church, after which, cultural presentations and mechanical rides will put everyone in the festive mood.  On Friday, August 17th at 7:30 p.m., the official opening ceremonies at the village’s park will get the fiesta going. As the night continues, it explodes into a party with the music of the dynamic Techno Band at the grand ‘baile’.

Saturday night, the park will play venue to a variety of cultural presentations highlighting the cultures of Northern Belize.  Then, dance the night away with the music of the mighty Gilharry 7 Band.  The party does not end there! Sunday night is then set to the titillating sounds of Supa G and Gilharry 7 as they close out the weekend festivities.

It’s time to put on your dancing shoes and head to San Joaquin Village in the Corozal District.  It’s all about San Joaquin’s Fiesta!
