Airport and BWSL leads in Basketball Firms’ Competition Print E-mail

Bowen N' Bowen Steve Bonnel scored 26 points against Atlantic BankThe Belize District Basketball Association Firms, and U-23 Competitions continued at the Bird’s Isle in Belize City with a number of games over the last weekend.

On Saturday, October 14th, in the first of two U-23 games played, Tigersharks edged Cellular  World by the score of 59-58. The top scorers for the Tigersharks were Winston Pratt with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and Ryan Zuniga with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.

For Cellular World, the top scorers were Marvin Skeet with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals; and Justin Wade with 11 points.

In the second game played, Tuff E Nuff won over Belize Bank by the score of 58-51. The top scorers for Tuff E Nuff were Jamal Kelly with 28 points, 6 rebounds; and Luis Pitterson and Jarrell Velasquez with 8 points each. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Belize Bank were Lincey Lopez with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; and Brian White with 8 points.

 In the first Firms’  Competition game of the evening, Bowen N’ Bowen defeated Atlantic Bank by the score of 62-58. The top scorers for Bowen N’ Bowen were Steve Bonnell with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals; and Darren Neal with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. For Atlantic Bank, the top scorers were Jermaine Tillett with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal; and Ervin Orosco with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals.

In the second game, BWSL won over BEL by the score of 46-37. The top scorers for BSWL were Travis Lennon with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists; and Charles Armstrong with 7 points and 2 rebounds. Meanwhile, the top scorer for BEL was Lloyd Leslie with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and an assist.

The competition continued on Friday, October 12th with three games in the Firms Competition. In game one, Airport continued on its winning path when it defeated BTL by the score of 72-60. The top scorers for Airport were Vince Lamb with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals; and Paul Swasey with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

For BTL, the top scorers were Edward Thompson with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, and Lupito Acosta with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

In game two, Port of Belize won over Smart by the score of 65-37. The top scorers for the Port of Belize were Lennox Bowman and Cecil Price with 15 points each and Angus Cherrington with 12 points. For Smart, the top scorers were Sean Duncan with 10 points, and Jason Gentle with 9 points.

In the final game of the day, Central Bank won over the Belize Bank by the score of 60-47. The top scorers for Central Bank were Edward Baptist and Benedict Terry with 12 points each and Bryan Grant with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

For the Belize Bank, the top scorers were Troy Gabb with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and Dominque Guzman with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.
