Superintendent Coreen Jacobs visits Sergeant Mark August.Minister of National Security, Minister John Saldivar on Thursday, October 18th visited Police Officer Sergeant #97 Mark August at his residence in the village of Camalote in the Cayo District.

Sergeant August, who was attached to the Punta Gorda Police Formation, is recovering from a motorcycle accident on the Southern Highway on September 23rd in which he lost both legs. 

Minister Saldivar wished the officer a speedy recovery and assured him of the full support of the Ministry of National Security in assisting him and his family throughout the challenges associated with his accident and the injuries sustained.

Minister Saldivar said the Ministry will ensure that Sergeant August continues to receive the best treatment and is afforded the wherewithal to walk again. He said the Ministry is looking at various options to secure the necessary artificial limbs (prosthetic legs).

He also assured Sergeant August, who remains on full salary, that his career is secure as a Police Officer and that, whenever he is ready, able and willing, he will have the opportunity to take up a position in one of various specialized units compatible with his physical condition and for which he is already qualified, including Prosecution, Finger-Printing or Information Technology.

Minister Saldivar was accompanied by CEO in the Ministry of National Security, Colonel (Ret.) George Lovell; Commissioner of Police, David Henderson; and Police Welfare Officer; Assistant Superintendent, Coreen Jacobs.
