Patrick Jones on Remand for Gun Assault Print E-mail

On Thurday, October 18th, 20-year-old Patrick Jones, a laborer of #4161 Banak Street in Belize City, appeared unrepresented in Magistrate's Court to answer to a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm upon, Layla Fuentes. He was also charged with harm upon her.

The incident is said to have occur on Tuesday, October 16th on Banak Street at Jone’s home.

Allegations being made against Jones are that Fuentes, went to Jones’ home, her daughter’s father, and upon her arrival, Jones pointed a black revolver at her and threatened to kill her.

According to Fuentes, Jones then punched her in the face and hit her in the head with a stone, which caused a cut wound.

In court, Jones, who was in pain and crying was asked what happened to him and he told the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith that, he had been tazered.

Jones pleaded not guilty to the charge but due to the nature of the offense, he was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
