Many who looked at Channel 5's newscast on Tuesday, November 6th were left wondering exactly what the agenda of the television station is. We write specifically about the news item in which the television station claims that money that is being spent on Government's BOOST Program and the Food Pantry program is "going into the wrong hands."

Now out of curiosity's sake, if for nothing else, looking at the entire news item, there was not a single instance when it was said that the program money is going into the wrong hands. As a matter of fact, World Bank consultants who are in the country, have nothing but praises for the program. They note that the BOOST program is singular in this hemisphere. They also point out that the program is being looked at as a model by which others can be implemented in other parts of the world. They also praised the scope and reach of the program, commending the manner in which the funds are disbursed to beneficiaries.

The question for Channel 5 then, is What's the Agenda? Making claims, and misleading Belizeans and not being able to back up claims is the worst form of yellow journalism.
