Hon. Hugo Patt visits cane farmers who were maintaining the sugar cane roadsOn Monday,  November 5th, the Hon. Hugo Patt, Minister of State in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Agriculture and Area Representative for the Corozal North Division, went on a working tour of his division.

He was first in the village of Xaibe with a group of  Volunteers from the U.S.A. known as the Belize Mission Group. The group visited villages in the Corozal North division, providing free dental care to the communities and the school children.

The Belize Mission Group is providing the dental care program to approximately 1,400 children at the Xaibe R.C. School, Patchakan R.C.School, Cristo Rey R.C. School, Cristo Rey Presbyterian Day, San Pedro Government School, Chan-Chen Government School, and Paraiso Government School.

The Mission for Belize Program has been coming to Belize for the past 15 years, doing voluntary work. This Corozal North Program is being supported by the Hon. Hugo Patt, and is coordinated by David Akierman and the guiding Community Team “Working Hands for a Better Belize" led by the chairperson Leidy Triminios from the village of Xaibe.

Later in the day, Hon. Hugo Patt was in the field supporting cane farmers, who were using their cane trucks to fill the sugar roads in their respective villages. Sugar road maintenance programs in the Corozal North division remain major concerns for the Hon. Hugo Patt. He believes in getting the community involved in their development, creating long lasting partnerships to achieve this.
