Hon. Mark King meets with Lake I fire victimsOn Tuesday, November 21st at around 1:45 a.m., a long barracks located in the Lake Independence area of Belize City caught on fire leaving 27 people homeless, reportedly 21 of those people are children. The building housed 4 apartments, which were completely destroyed and the residents were left with absolutely nothing.

Quickly responding to assist his constituents, Hon. Mark King paid the residents a visit on Wednesday evening at around 5:30p.m. taking emergency supplies to begin to make the residents comfortable. He explained to The Guardian that in the first instance he brought some mattresses food supplies, clothing and cleaning supplies. He said that after a cleanup is conducted in the area, building supplies will be provided for the residents to begin the reconstruction process. Hopefully he says, at least a portion of the entire structure will be up before Christmas so as to make the residents a bit comfortable before then. Within the next few weeks, more building supplies will be provided for every resident to be able to get back their homes.
