Belmopan Bandits and Verdes FC maintains lead in PLB Tournament Print E-mail

BDF’s Tyrone PandyThe 2012 Premier League of Belize Football Competition continued over the last weekend with six games on the schedule.

On Saturday, November 17th, at the Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo, the home team,Verdes FC blanked the visiting RG City Boys United by the score of 3-0 to maintain its share of the lead in this year’s competition. The goals for Verdes FC were scored by Julian Maldonado in the 25th and 73rd minutes of play, and Emmanuel Martinez in the 46th minute of play.

Meanwhile, out at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village, Police United nipped the home team Paradise Freedom/Fighters by the score of 3-2. The goals for Police United were scored by Daniel Jimenez in the 37th minute of play, Lennox Castillo in the 63rd minute of play; and Evan Mariano in the 86th minute of play. For the home team, Paradise Freedom/Fighters, the goals were scored by Alexander Peters in the 44th minute of play and Wilmer Garcia in the 90+ minute of play.

The competition then continued on Sunday, November 18th, with four more games. At the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, the Belmopan Bandits kept pace with Verdes FC when it also blanked the San Pedro Seadogs by the score of 4-0. The goals for Belmopan Bandits were scored by Woodrow West in the 18th minute of play via a penalty kick, and Jacinto Bermudez in the 31st, 75th and 81st minutes of play.

At the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk Town, FC San Felipe Barcelona defeated Juventus FC by the score of 4-1. The goals for FC San Felipe Barcelona were scored by Gian Teck, an own goal in the 1st minute of play; Josue Acevedo in the 61st minute of play; Gabriel Perez in the 75th minute of play and Clifton West in the 90th minute of play.

Meanwhile, the goal for Juventus FC was scored by Michael Whittaker in the 62nd minute of play.

In the game played at the MCC Grounds, Belize Defence Force and FC Belize played to a 0-0 draw.

While out at the Placencia Football Field, Placencia Assassins and San Ignacio United played to a 0-0 draw.
