Guadalupe RC Girls’ and Our Lady of the Way Boys are Rural Champions Print E-mail

The Belize Rural Football Championships were played on Thursday, November 15th, 2012 out in Burrell Boom Village.

The championships saw the participation of 10 male schools and 6 female schools. The schools that participated in the boys’ championship were Biscayne Government School, Lucky Strike Government School, Hattieville Government School, Guadalupe Roman Catholic School (Sandhill), Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic School (Ladyville), Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic (Maskall), Burrell Boom Methodist, Pancotto (Sandhill) Zion Park Methodist and Ladyville Evangelical School. Meanwhile, the schools that participated in the girls’ championship were Lucky Strike Government School, Guadalupe Roman Catholic School (Sandhill), Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic (Maskall), Ladyville Evangelical, Burrell Boom Methodist and Pancotto (Sandhill).

In the girls’ championship game, Guadalupe Roman Catholic School defeated Lucky Strike Government School by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Shameka Dawson.

In the semi-final game, Guadalupe Roman Catholic School eliminated Burrell Boom Methodist by the score of 2-0. The goals for Guadalupe Roman Catholic were scored by Shevaun Vaccaro.

In the first girls’ game of the day, Burrell Boom Methodist blanked Pancotto by the score of 1-0. Burrell Boom Methodist goal was scored by Faith Young.

In game two, Lucky Strike Government School edged Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic School by the score of 3-1. The goals for Lucky Strike Government School were scored by Jada Smith, Kadiesha Herbert and Shante Chacon, while the goal for Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic School was scored by Marina Sanchez.

In the third girls’ game of the day, Guadalupe Roman Catholic blanked Ladyville Evangelical School by the score of 3-0. The goals for Guadalupe Roman Catholic were scored by Shevaun Vaccaro, Lianna Meggs and Britney Grinage.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ championship game, Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic School edged Our Lady of Lourdes by the score of 2-1.  The goals for Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic were scored by Akeem Smith and Mario Vargas, while the goal for Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic was scored by Samuel Torres.

In the semi-final game, Our Lady of Lourdes eliminated Burrell Boom Methodist by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Samuel Torres.

In the Quarter Final round, Burrell Boom Methodist eliminated Hattieville Government School by the score of 1-0. The goal for Burrell Boom Methodist was scored by Ray Nicholson. In the second game of the Quarter-Final round, Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic eliminated Ladyville Evangelical by the score of 1-0. Akeem Smith scored the only goal of the game.

In the first game played, Our Lady of the Way blanked Zion Park Methodist by the score of 1-0. The goal for Our Lady of the Way was scored by Marshall Vargas. In the second game, Hattieville Government School defeated Biscayne Government School by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Darrel Flowers.

In game three, Ladyville Evangelical defeated Pancotto by the score of 1-0. Ladyville Evangelical’s goal was scored by Rupert Myles. In game four, Our Lady of Lourdes blanked Lucky Strike Government School by the score of 1-0. Samuel Torres scored the only goal of the game for Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic.

In the final game of the first round, Burrell Boom Methodist edged Guadalupe Roman Catholic School by the score of 1-0. Jason Mejia scored the only goal of the game for Burrell Boom Methodist.

Guadalupe Roman Catholic Girls’ and Our Lady of the Way Boys will represent Belize Rural at the District Finals scheduled for November 27th, at MCC Grounds.
