Jared Ranguy, Karen Skeen Vellos, Robert Earl Vellos Sr. and Teena Beth SkeenOn Tuesday, November 27th, Jared Avery Ranguy was formally arraigned for the killing of his mother, sister and step-father. Ranguy appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith where he was read three counts of murder. He was then remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Allegations are that in the wee hours of Sunday, November 25th, 2012, Karen Skeen-Vellos, 45, and her husband, American national, 73-year-old Robert Earl Vellos Sr., and Skeen’s daughter, 32-year-old Teena Beth Skeen were all murdered while at their Marage road home in Ladyville.

Karen Skeen-Vellos was stabbed to death, while her husband, Robert, and her daughter were believed to have been shot.
Police had initially thought that the murders were as a result of a home invasion after they responded to calls made by neighbors who reported that they heard screams coming from the Skeen-Vellos’ home early that morning.

When police arrived at the family home at about 3:30 a.m., they found Jared Ranguy, nude and kneeling with a machete in his hand. He reportedly told police that his mother, sister and step-father were inside the home hurt. He also indicated to them that there was a home invasion and that the culprit forced their way past him and murdered his family.

When the Scenes of Crime Personnel concluded gathering evidence from the family home, things were not adding up. Their search of the home led to a bag of items including a bloody t-shirt, a firearm and other items believed to have been used in the murders.
